Bootstrappers
Shawn Mozen
The Bootstrapper is one of the most punishing leg exercises
I have ever come across. It's hard to imagine another bodyweight
exercise that is so simple yet sneaks up on your legs and gives
them such a tremendous workout. Add this challenging exercise
to your workouts and enjoy the burn.
Assume a squatting position with your heels off of the floor
and your hands in front of your feet. Your hands are approximately
a hand distance from your feet. If you aren't that flexible
you can keep your fists closed rather than having your palms
touching the floor.
From this position keep your hands on the ground as you straighten
your legs and then return to the squatting position. Start to
repeat this motion at a smooth steady pace.
You can see a modified version of this exercise in the Second
Wind DVD available at www.agatsu.com In that version I don't
come all the way down into the squat. The above exercise takes
you through the full range of motion and is the preferred way
to perform a Bootstrapper, however you can perform the variation
if you are concerned about your knees, back or anything else.
As with all exercises consult your physician and a professional
instructor before you try them.
Try this combo:
30 seconds pushups
30 seconds bootstrapper
30 seconds rest
Repeat the above for four sets.
